Tooth Gem Policies
Please take your time to read and understand the procedures and policies relating to your tooth gem service.
Service Overview
The tooth gem application is a cosmetic procedure where a gem is placed on the surface of your tooth using a specialized adhesive. The procedure is non-invasive and does not involve drilling or damage to the tooth.
Azaleabeautynz uses a range of high quality - lead free gems such as Swarovski and preciosa crystals as well as 18k gold cut charms
Initial consultation

During consultation you will fill out a form outlining everything related to the service.

Following this you will get to choose your crystals. The shape, size and placement.

Please raise any questions or concerns during this time.
Application Process

A mouth guard will be used to keep your mouth open and a UV light is used to cure the bonding agents.

You will be asked to give a general idea of placement prior to commencing. During the final stage of placing the tooth gem you will be asked to confirm the position of the tooth gem. You MUST tell your technician if you would like to move it any other direction as once it is cured with the LED light it will be fixed/stuck there. Once agreed to the placement the tooth gem will be cured and set.

The application is generally painless. You may feel slight pressure, but it should not cause discomfort.
Post appointment

After the gem is applied, you may feel the gem on your tooth for a short period, but this sensation will typically fade as you adjust to it.

Post-Procedure Sensitivity: Some clients may experience mild tooth sensitivity or gum irritation immediately after the application. This is usually temporary and should resolve within a few hours.

Do not touch or play with the tooth gem directly

Do not lick the tooth gem or run your tongue around it for 24hours following

Do not eat or chew gum for 24 hour after the tooth gem is placed.

Do not smoke for 24 hours after the tooth gem is placed.

Eat only soft foods for the first 24hours hours.

For the first 4 hours, do not eat or drink
-
Acidic drinks such as alcohol should be avoided as it might weaken the bond of the gem 24hours

The adhesive takes 24 hours to acquire maximum strength.

Do not brush your teeth for 24hours hours. It is preferable to avoid using an electric toothbrush for the first 48 hours after a tooth gem has been placed. Always be careful biting into hard food where the tooth gem has been placed. This will affect the longevity of your tooth gem.

No teeth whitening products or services for 2 weeks

No mouth wash for 48hours
Risks and considerations

While tooth gem applications are generally safe, there are some inherent risks. These include:

Loosening of the Gem: Over time, the gem may become loose due to normal wear, eating hard foods, or brushing too vigorously.

Damage to the Tooth: If the gem is not cared for properly or if external force (like biting on hard objects) is applied, it could cause damage to the enamel or gums.

Discomfort: You may experience mild discomfort or sensitivity, especially if the gem is placed on a tooth that is already sensitive

If you have a known allergy to certain adhesives, metals, or gemstones (such as nickel or other alloys), it's crucial to inform your technician beforehand. Reactions could include redness, swelling, or irritation on the gums or surrounding tissue.

Over time, the gem may lose its shine, become discolored, or develop minor cracks, especially if exposed to certain foods, beverages (like coffee or red wine), or smoking.

Some clients may find that the gem’s appearance dulls, making it look less appealing than when it was first applied.
​Mismatch with Teeth: -
In some cases, the gem might not look as harmonious with the surrounding teeth as expected. For example, it may appear too large, small, or out of place with your natural smile. It’s important to choose a design that complements your teeth’s color and shape.
Gem retention

Each gem has a warranty of 2 months. During this period - if your gem has fallen off we will replace it ONE time at no extra charge. (subject to our discretion)

We will always try remedy the problem first and replace the gem before taking any further steps.

If you return for a replacement you will ensure there is no adhesive remaining on the tooth. If there is adhesive still on the area you're wanting the gem then your technician will advise you to get it removed or will advise that you get a gem in a different area.

There is no warranty for gold charms however a complimentary gem application may be offered (4x gems max)
Removal
-
Azaleabeautynz cannot remove any gems.
-
You must go to a dentist to remove any gems or adhesive that may remain on the tooth.
